Fencing Components
Truss Rod is a round steel rod fitted diagonally from the brace rail back to the foot of a chain-link fence's terminal post, where a truss tightener draws it tight. It keeps end, corner and gate posts upright against the pull of the stretched mesh. GV supplies it with a hot dip galvanized hex nut on 12 in of threads at one end. Specify the diameter, length, finish and the quantity you need.
At a glance
A diagonal steel rod installed from the brace rail at a line post back to the base of the terminal post, tightened with a truss tightener to resist the cumulative outward pull of the chain-link mesh on the fence's end and corner posts.
3/8 in (9.5 mm) and 1/2 in (12.7 mm) round stock; supplied in standard lengths from 10 to 20 feet (3.0–6.1 m), with a hot-dip galvanized hex nut factory-fitted on 12 inches of threads at one end.
Chain-link specifications call for bracing and trussing on the terminal posts of taller fences, and on fences built without a top rail.
The rod runs from the brace rail at the first line post down to the foot of the terminal post. The truss tightener takes up the thread until the rod is tight, so the pull of the mesh on the terminal post is carried back down the rod.
Common applications
Brace the terminal posts of commercial and industrial chain-link runs where the mesh is stretched between them.
Corner posts take mesh from two directions and gate posts carry the gate as well, so both are braced with a rod on each side that needs it.
Replace bent or rusted truss rods on existing fences, matched to the diameter and length of the original.
