A solar array is only as good as the steel it stands on. GV supplies ground-mount structures fabricated from cold-formed sections, C and Z purlins that carry the module rails, and slotted and punched angles for bracing and frames. Each component is sourced to the section, steel grade and galvanizing finish your design calls for.

Utility-scale solar farms
Large fixed-tilt arrays stand in long rows of posts driven or set into the ground, with rafters and purlins carrying the modules at the design tilt. Every row is identical, so the steel is made and galvanized to one drawing. Ground Mountings, C Purlin and Z Purlin cover it.
Commercial and farm ground mounts
Factories, farms and institutions put smaller ground-mount arrays on spare land. Frames are bolted together from purlins and angles on site. Ground Mountings, Slotted, Solid, Punched Angles and C Purlin cover it.
Rooftop and elevated structures
Flat roofs, car parks and water tanks carry arrays on raised steel frames. Light purlins span between the supports, and angles brace the frame. C Purlin, Z Purlin and Slotted, Solid, Punched Angles cover it.

Common questions about solar mounting steel.
What goes into a ground-mount structure?
Posts set in the ground, inclined rafters, purlins that carry the module rails, and bracing. GV sources these as cold-formed sections and fabricated assemblies to your array drawing, with round tube posts in 60, 75, 89 and 114 mm or C sections. Modules, clamps, aluminum rails and inverters are specified by you or your EPC partners.
How are solar structures galvanized?
Specify hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123, often with an 85 µm (3.3 mil) minimum zinc layer, or pre-galvanized strip. GV supplies structures plain, painted, hot-dip galvanized or pre-galvanized per your design specification.
What purlin sizes are used in solar structures?
GV sources C purlins 3 to 10 in (75 to 250 mm) deep and Z purlins 4 to 10 in (100 to 250 mm) deep, in 10G to 16G (1.5 to 3.5 mm) steel. They are cut to length and punched to your module layout.
What are slotted angles used for in solar work?
Slotted and punched angles bolt together on site into bracing, stands and light frames without field drilling. GV supplies equal angles from 1 x 1 to 4 x 4 in (25 x 25 to 100 x 100 mm) in 20Ga to 8Ga, painted or galvanized to your specification.
