Black annealed Wire from GV in 16 Ga (ASTM A82) secures reinforcement and mesh intersections during reinforcement layout before concrete placement. What do tie rods and tie rod nuts do in a formwork assembly?

GV tie rod assemblies manage hydrostatic concrete pressure during pours. The threaded Tie Rod spans the gap between opposing form faces and carries horizontal load. A Tie Rod Nut engages the thread, and a Plate Washer distributes bearing load on the form face. As you tighten the nut, the rod draws the two faces together under controlled clamping force, holding the forms rigid throughout the pour. What's the difference between dowel bars and cut rebar?

GV Cut Rebar is deformed reinforcing bar (ASTM A615) cut to your length for slab and cage reinforcement—it bonds to concrete and strengthens the slab body. GV Dowel Bars are smooth round bars placed across concrete joints to transfer shear load as the slab moves and settles. Dowels accommodate slight joint movement; rebar does not. Use rebar to strengthen the slab and dowels to transfer loads across control joints and construction joints.

How are road forms held to grade?

GV Road Forms are steel sections positioned on grade along the concrete edge to establish line and profile for pavement, curbs and footpath work. Road Form Pins are driven through pockets built into the form section into the ground below, securing the form to grade and holding it to line and level through the pour. Each form section is positioned, leveled and pinned before concrete placement to prevent movement or settlement.

When are anchor bolts cast in versus fixed later?

GV cast-in Anchor Bolts embed in the foundation during the concrete pour. The bolt is held in a template, centered in the pour, and locks in place as concrete cures. The threaded projection extends above the surface for base plate, nut and washer assembly. This cast-in method provides permanent, centered anchorage. GV provides template drawings and certifications to support your foundation setup and equipment installation.

What role do formwork pins play compared to stakes?

GV Formwork Pins are holed pins that lock boards or accessories to stakes for positive retention at specific points. Stakes are driven into the ground to anchor form edges and provide ground-holding force through driving. Pins provide a positive mechanical lock; stakes hold through ground friction and driving resistance. Use pins where positioning must be locked and stakes where ground anchoring is the primary need.
