Every crop wants its canopy held in a particular shape, and that shape is what your trellis is for. GV sources the steel you need—line posts and cross arms for the frame, earth anchors and stop plates to hold it in the ground, U bolts to pin it together, and stakes and rods to carry young plants through establishment. Rolled Edge Vertical Line Post

Vertical posts

Rolled Edge and Flat-Edge Vertical Line Posts carry the wire framework down every row you plant. The rolled edge stiffens the post, giving it more strength and bend resistance under a heavy canopy. The flat edge gives you a clean, consistent face for wire and clip placement. End posts use a heavier gauge, because they take the tension of the whole row.

Cross arms

Cross Arms mount at the top of a post and spread your canopy wide. They turn a single-wire row into a T-trellis, a DOV raisin system, a kiwifruit T-bar, or a caneberry configuration. U Bolts clamp the arm in place and carry the pull of fruit, foliage, and wire tension along its length.

Grape Stakes hold your young vines upright through cordon training, then come out once each vine stands on its own. Pencil Rods do similar work during establishment, later guiding branches in espalier rows. Cut Rebar covers the same ground on a budget, for training frames and temporary bracing.

Ground anchors

Earth Anchors screw into the ground behind your end posts and hold them against the tension every wire in the row pulls back. Spiral anchors suit loam and clay. Straight-blade anchors bite into sand. Stop Plates solve a different problem, spreading the bearing load so a post doesn't sink into soft ground.

Fasteners and caps

U Bolts clamp Cross Arms to posts and secure your wires at every attachment point, across every system in the range. T Post Caps do a different job, sealing the post top against water so corrosion doesn't start from the inside. That matters most in wet or coastal ground.

Wine grapes

Cool-climate wine grapes live or die on light and airflow in the fruiting zone, and on rows a harvester can run clean. That means a narrow vertical canopy, and it asks for line posts at consistent spacing, wires that hold tension all season, and end posts anchored hard enough that the row never creeps. Table grapes and raisins

Table grapes and dried-on-vine raisins want a wide canopy and one clear picking line. Spreading fruit that wide puts a cross arm on top of every post, and it asks a lot of the row ends, which now carry the weight of a fully loaded canopy. GV supplies Cross Arms, U Bolts and Earth Anchors that handle that work.

Apples, pears and stone fruit

High-density orchard rows are unforgiving about geometry. Trees go in tight, carry fruit for decades, and one post that drifts or sinks pulls the whole fruit wall out of line with it. Close-spaced line posts hold the frame. V #3 Posts handle angled-V layouts like Tatura. Pencil Rods guide branches while the trees train, and Stop Plates keep posts from settling into soft ground. Kiwifruit, caneberries and berries

These crops load a structure in very different ways. A mature kiwifruit vine is heavy, and all that weight sits overhead, so posts and cross arms size up accordingly. Caneberries need several wire heights and tighter spacing to keep canes in hand and pickers moving. Young plants of any of them need holding upright first—Grape Stakes through cordon training, Pencil Rods for branch work. GV sources the full range.

Difficult ground

Soft ground, a high water table or a hard frost will move your posts, and a moved post is a slack row. Earth Anchors take the pull at the row ends, spiral in loam and clay, straight-blade where the soil turns sandy. Stop Plates work on the other axis, spreading the post's own load so it stays at the height you set it. For temporary rows, Cut Rebar braces cheaply. GV has the solution for whatever the ground throws at you.

VERTICAL SHOOT POSITIONING

VSP for wine grapes

VSP puts the whole canopy in one vertical plane. Shoots run straight up from a fruiting wire and are held there by catch wires above it. Line posts spaced down the row carry that wire array, and U Bolts fasten each wire so it holds its tension rather than sliding under load. The geometry only holds if the row ends hold, which is where Earth Anchors come in: they take the accumulated pull of every wire on the row and put it into the ground.

T-trellis table grape systems

A Cross Arm at the top of each post turns one vertical plane into two. Bilateral cordons train out along the arm, and wires clipped at staggered heights carry the fruiting zone on either side. The arm is what sets canopy width, so its length is the number that decides how the row works. U Bolts clamp the arm to the post, and Earth Anchors hold the end posts against a fully loaded arm through harvest.

DOV RAISIN SYSTEMS

Dried-on-vine raisin trellis

DOV builds an open gable: posts angled into a V, with Cross Arms forming the top of each side. Cordons train up both faces, and the gap down the middle is what lets air move through the canopy well enough to dry fruit where it hangs. The V spreads load outward instead of straight back down the row, but the end posts still carry cane weight and drying fruit until the machine comes through. Earth Anchors hold them for that whole stretch.

KIWIFRUIT PERGOLA SYSTEMS

Kiwifruit T-bar and pergola support

Kiwifruit gets built two ways. A T-bar puts a single Cross Arm at the post top and holds the canopy at one working height, which keeps access simple. A pergola goes fully overhead on stacked wire tiers, spreading the load across more structure and carrying more fruiting wood. Both ask more of the posts than a vertical row does, because the weight sits out over the row rather than beside it. Earth Anchors keep the row ends from walking under that load.

TATURA V-TRELLIS

Tatura apple orchard systems

Tatura leans the posts. Set at roughly 22.5 degrees, V #3 Posts form a narrow fruit wall with high sides, which fits more canopy into a tighter row and keeps light on all of it. Leaning the posts also changes where the load goes: an angled post pushes sideways as much as it pulls back, so bracing at the row ends matters more here than in a vertical system. Stop Plates keep the bases from settling, and Earth Anchors take the angled pull.

Caneberry (raspberry, blackberry) systems

Caneberries take one of three shapes. An I-trellis keeps canes upright in a single narrow line. A V-trellis splits them onto two faces for more air and light between the canes. A T-trellis runs Cross Arms out wide so canes lie along horizontal wires and a harvester can pass straight down the row. Line posts and Earth Anchors are the same in all three; the configuration follows your cane type and how you plan to pick.

Rolled-edge posts have a continuous fold that stiffens the cross-section for more strength and bend resistance under row tension. Flat-edge posts offer a clean face for consistent wire-clip bearing and uniform wire heights. Both fit every trellis system, so the choice is whether you want the extra stiffness or the flat face for wire work.
How long should a cross arm be for a multi-wire trellis?
Cross arm length determines canopy width and wire spacing. Table grape T-trellis systems typically run 4 to 6 feet to position bilateral cordons.
