Universal Strut Channel / ‘C’ Strut Channel

Universal Strut Channel / ‘C’ Strut Channel is roll-formed steel framing channel, 1-5/8 in (41 mm) wide, with in-turned lips along its open face. Channel nuts lock under the lips anywhere along the length, so pipes, ducts, trays and equipment can be supported and adjusted without welding. Specify depth, thickness, slotted or plain, length, finish and the quantity you need.

How it works

Nuts lock under the lips

A channel nut is pushed into the open face and turned a quarter turn so its grooves sit under the in-turned lips. A bolt through a fitting is screwed into the nut and tightened, and the grooves lock the nut against the lips. The fitting can be moved along the channel before the bolt is tightened.

A length of channel hung on two threaded rods carries pipes or ducts clamped to its face. Several services can share one trapeze.

Cable tray and conduit supports

Electrical contractors fix cable tray and conduit to strut on walls and ceilings. The slots let supports be set to the route.

Plant and panel frames

Stands for pumps, panels and rooftop units are bolted together from channel and fittings. Back-to-back channel makes the posts.

Should I order slotted or plain strut channel?

Slotted channel takes bolts through its back at regular centers, so brackets and fixings can go anywhere without drilling. Plain channel is stiffer and cleaner where fixings are few. GV supplies both in 21, 41, 61 and 81 mm (13/16 to 3-1/4 in) depths, 12G to 16G.
